You want to overcome overwhelm, pressure and that feeling of anxiety, but how do you know if you're ready for growth?
An owner of multiple businesses, Sonal Bhaskaran was also on a journey of overcoming Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in parallel, having unknowingly suffered from it for most of her life.
Understanding personally the challenges a business owner faces while juggling those that life throws at us, Sonal combines her 21+ years of experience delivering projects in highly pressurised environments whilst working through her complex trauma to help individuals in leadership and business owner roles get them to where they want to be, through 5S Unlocked.
Over a rolling 3, 6 or 12 month period in 1-2-1 sessions over Zoom with Sonal Bhaskaran, select from weekly or fortnightly coaching and also receive: Direct support and accountability in between sessions, focus notes and a summary at the end of each session to maintain focus and work towards the goals we’ve set together at the beginning.
Let’s unlock what’s holding you back.
You’re stretched so thin across family commitments, meetings, demands in your business or at work, you don’t know if you’re coming or going. With zero free time and no room to breathe, you just want to catch a break without having to play catch up later.
Constantly under pressure from family, friends, business partners and colleagues, investors, clients or suppliers, you set high standards for yourself and feel disappointed if you don’t meet or exceed them, or avoid the work because you don’t want to feel like you’ve failed.
You’re a giver who finds it hard to say no, even when you don’t feel up to helping because you don’t want to let people down, making you feel under-appreciated when it’s left un-noticed.
People just don’t do things the way you’ve asked them to or don’t listen to your advice, leaving you to feel frustrated and drained when things don’t happen the way they were meant to or people don’t respond the way you’d hoped.
Making decisions feels stressful because you doubt your own judgement in making the right choice and feel undeserving of any achievements or successes you’ve already accomplished.
You feel unfulfilled, trapped and stuck in routine. It often seems like the gap between where you are and where you want to be is too big to close.
Hi! I’m Sonal Bhaskaran, I run 5S Projects. You might be asking yourself “what the heck makes a process consultant qualified in helping me through my life challenges?”
For me anyway, the right way of improving processes is identical to improving your life. Find the right problem to solve, accept it’s happened, identify what isn’t working and what is, fix each issue identified, one at a time.
I had complex PTSD from childhood well into my 30s before it was diagnosed. After dealing with streams of flashbacks day on day for years, feeling guilt, anger, shame, overwhelm, fear and anxiety alongside running multiple businesses for decades, a breakdown was my warning sign that it was make or break and that I needed someone to help me out of it.
Hitting my lowest point made me realise that there was no other way but to up and no other person but me to flip things around not waste any more years. I’d literally spent decades with a need to be liked, valued by others and let a traumatic past negatively affect my present and future.
Working with an incredible trauma therapist and psychotherapist, the results gave me back control to simplify my life, make better choices and better business decisions. If it wasn’t for that, I wouldn’t have 5S Projects, or met the amazing people I now have in my life that have pushed me even more forward.
It would have been impossible without them, but it also felt impossible and overwhelming at the time, especially when I looked at the long journey I had ahead of me.
It was tough to work through it all. It was even harder to realise that my value system was created by things I had no control over and how much it had affected decisions I made, even the smallest ones, n my businesses and personal life.
I had inadvertently surrounded myself with the wrong people and the wrong work environments for years, which in turn meant I always felt unsafe, never knowing my place or purpose and in general feeling very isolated and like a fish out of water wherever I was.
Doing the work helped me understand the rationale and root cause behind decisions I made, actions I took, and why I held onto environments that weren’t serving me.
It set me on a different path of making small changes to my life regularly to the point where I became confident of the type of person I wanted to be, the things I wanted in life, and the business I wanted to own and drive forward.
Life can suck, if you continue to let it. Things happen that you have zero control over. That’s life. It’s ok to feel it’s unfair and be angry, but only to a certain point. No matter what life has thrown at you, it’s you that owns the outcomes and results you create for your life. For many, that realisation or “awakening” happens after “hitting rock bottom” or burning out.
Your current state of mind affects your ability to make good decisions, and beliefs developed as far back as your childhood have a say in that too. If you don’t fix that and you’re a business owner, it can ruin your business. Hold onto things and people that don’t work for you or do you no good, and you’ve just said a loud no to making space for the good stuff.
Reaching out to someone who can help you to overcome those blocks is one of the biggest comfort zones you’ll break, but the most powerful one that creates limitless opportunities to live the life you want.
